Expo City Dubai is a future-centric mini-city that builds on the legacy of Expo 2020 Dubai. The first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia regions, it welcomed 192 nations and more than 24 million visitors during its run.
Open since 1 October 2022, Expo City brings back many of the entertainment offerings that delighted visitors during the world-class exposition, including the flagship Al Wasl Plaza, Garden in the Sky observation tower and famed Surreal water feature. The main thematic pavilions all remain, with Alif – the Mobility Pavilion and Terra – the Sustainability Pavilion, transforming into interactive educational experiences, while the Opportunity Pavilion is now the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum. Through these attractions, it is committed to addressing global topics and enabling people to share their voices, with a particular focus on the youth of today.
Visitors will also be able to explore some of the popular country pavilions, including the falcon-inspired UAE Pavilion, the award-winning Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Pavilion and reworked spaces for Luxembourg, Pakistan and Australia, among others.
Aiming to become an ideal smart and futuristic destination for business and innovation, Expo City is the brand new address for offices and businesses that are serious about sustainable targets. As part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the mini-city is free of single-use plastic and is also the first WELL-certified community in the region, a global benchmark for healthy communities.
Easily accessible via the Dubai Metro, the 4.38 sqm site is also home to the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), the expansive venue which hosted multiple global summits, conferences and concerts during the six-month Expo.
In addition to a thriving dining scene with restaurants and cafes, there are plans for plenty of leisure and sports facilities and a shopping mall. While admission to Expo City Dubai is free, access to most attractions starts at AED50; the fee is waived for children 12 and under and People of Determination.
