Digital Detox Drives Experience-Led Wellness Travel
Travellers in the UAE are embracing a new era of wellness-led travel, shaped by a growing desire to disconnect and recharge. New insights from Priority Pass reveal that two in five (40%) UAE travellers are now booking trips specifically for wellness and to ‘digitally detox’, highlighting a strong shift towards intentional and restorative travel in response to increasingly connected lifestyles.
No longer viewed as an occasional indulgence, wellness travel is becoming a central driver of how journeys are planned. Travellers are actively prioritising experiences that support both mental and physical wellbeing, from spa retreats and time in nature to mindfulness and self-care. This evolution is also reflected in travel behaviour, with both younger and older UAE travellers booking longer wellness trips and spending significantly more than those travelling for sports.
Expectations are also evolving beyond the destination itself. Travellers are increasingly seeking seamless, end-to-end journeys that support relaxation from departure to arrival. In the Middle East, airport experiences are playing a growing role in this shift, with access to wellness-focused services and calm spaces within airport lounges seen as integral to overall travel enjoyment and helping travellers transition more smoothly into their trip.
Members of Priority Pass can access more than 1,800 lounges and travel experiences worldwide, including spas, sleep pods and exclusive airport lounges designed to offer moments of calm during transit.
Digital tools such as TrvlWell, available through the Priority Pass app, are also helping travellers maintain balance while on the move. Together, these developments reflect how travel is increasingly being redefined as a connected wellbeing experience where opportunities to rest, reset, and recharge are integrated into every stage of the journey.
