A Showdown Of Cosplay Creativity! Calling All Fans To Bring Their Favourite Gaming Characters To Life At The Dubai Cosplay Championship
Calling all gaming fans to show off their creative talents at the Dubai Cosplay Catwalk and Dubai Cosplay Championship, taking place on 3 and 4 May as part of the DEF GameExpo at Dubai World Trade Centre Zabeel Halls 5 and 6. The ultimate gamer’s event is part of the Dubai Esports and Gaming Festival (DEF) 2024, organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE).
On 3 May, cosplay enthusiasts can display their dedication in the Cosplay Catwalk, which is open for all GameExpo ticket holders to join. Participants will have just 30 seconds to showcase their single or group costumes and wow the judges – including international cosplayer @gibmesoju, as well as UAE-based cosplayers @m7cosplay and @sayocoser.
On 4 May, the Dubai Cosplay Championship will welcome a vibrant meeting of gaming characters as they compete to be named winners across three categories – Kids, Craft and Performance. Three winners will be crowned from each category, judged by leading cosplayers @pufacosplay, @shadowhart.cosplay, and @dreamcherries.cosplay.
Winners stand the chance to take home cash prizes worth AED 5,000; while two runners-up will be awarded AED 1,500 and AED 1,000. Registration is still open for fans through the DEF website.
Enthusiasts can secure their entry with ticket options available for one, two, or three days – starting from AED 29 for students and AED 59 for adults. For an enhanced one-day experience, limited VIP tickets are available for Saturday or Sunday starting from AED 359. Tickets can be booked through this link. Special packages available for families, while kids below 5 years of age enter for free.
As well as taking part in the cosplay competitions, ticket holders can discover new gaming titles, meet gaming stars from across the globe, and battle it out in esports competitions. Coding workshops and Minecraft family challenges are also must-do events for fans, as well as witnessing the epic Play Beyond influencer gaming showdown which is happening on 4 and 5 May.
Tickets also give guests access to a variety of exciting zones, including the Gaming District, where the freshest game releases and previews can be explored, including Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Contra: Operation Galuga, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The Future Zone will be home to cutting-edge tech gaming ideas; and the Retro Zone will display nostalgic games of the past. Visitors can find a piece of the fun to take home at The Narrows, a buzzing shopping zone where gaming artists will showcase their craft; and Electric Avenue, where the latest tech will be available to buy. For the first time, a Family Zone will also bring excitement for young gaming fans who can go head on with their families.
GameExpo is hosted with the support of Dubai Future Foundation, Dubai Next, Dubai Police, Dubai Sports Council and in partnership with Emirates NBD, Red Bull, Rove, Talabat and VOX, as well as Virgin Radio and Tik Tok.
