Knight Frank And Dubai Autism Centre To Partner Up For ‘7 Emirates Run 4 Autism’

Knight Frank Global Head of Data Centres, Stephen Beard and colleague Si Lau announce the ‘7 Emirates Run 4 Autism’ – a 640km ultra-marathon across the UAE, starting on 14 March 2025 and coinciding with Neurodiversity Celebration Week.

Pushing themselves to the limit, Stephen and Si will complete the renowned, official 7 Emirates Run and then run an additional 100km, to run past every major data centre in the region, making this the longest ever run undertaken across the UAE. The goal is to complete the feat in 10 days, crossing Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al-Quwain, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Fujairah, in the searing 30-degree heat.

The challenge is being undertaken to raise US$ 1m to create an app in partnership with the Dubai Autism Centre.

A key inspiration is Teddy, Stephen’s five-year-old son, who is non-verbal autistic. Through this initiative, Stephen and Si aim to raise awareness and understanding of autism and help build a society that works better for Teddy and all autistic people.

According to the World Health Organisation, it is estimated that worldwide about 1 in 36 children has autism. Whilst all people, including people with autism, have the right to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health, those with autism are often subject to stigma and discrimination.

Mr. Mohammed Al Emadi, Director General of the Dubai Autism Centre, said: “We are honoured to partner with Knight Frank on this extraordinary initiative. Their commitment is a testament to the power of individuals to drive awareness and create meaningful change. The funds raised will be instrumental in developing an app that will support Individuals with Autism and their families, fostering a more inclusive and connected community. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those with Autism.”

Speaking at the launch, Stephen said: “We came up with this fundraising idea after realising that there are limited options for autistic children and their families to get together in Dubai and around the world. The money raised will help us build an app that will bring people together, virtually and socially, to share experiences and knowledge.

“It is not people with autism or special needs that need to change, it is society that needs to make fundamental changes to allow them to feel like they can fit in and be part of society too. We hope that by doing this record-breaking ultra-marathon and partnering with the world-class Dubai Autism Centre, we can create change for families living with autism around the world.”
