The Old Library, which was founded in 1969, is the city’s oldest English-language library. It serves the requirements of the English-speaking expat population in Dubai. It operates as a non-profit organization with a Dubai Community Development Authority license and is entirely run by volunteers. The Library is managed by an elected Management Committee, and all subscription fees, book fines, and proceeds from the sale of used books are reinvested in the library to help cover running expenses and fund the acquisition of new books.
