Emirati Artist Khalfan Almarashda Unveils CubixArt, Transforming Thousands Of Cubes Into Art At ME By Meliá Dubai
ME by Meliá Dubai continues to champion homegrown creativity with the launch of CubixArt, a striking solo exhibition by Emirati engineer and artist Eng. Khalfan Almarashda. Running from 15 February to 7 March 2026 on the hotel’s third floor, the exhibition marks the first solo showcase by an Emirati artist hosted at the property.
Featuring more than 30 large-scale mosaic artworks meticulously constructed from over 20,000 solved 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cubes, CubixArt transforms precision into powerful visual storytelling. Built cube by cube, each 28mm piece contributes to bold contemporary compositions that explore identity, continuity, and creativity.
Through patience and a structured artistic approach, Almarashda elevates an everyday object into captivating portraits and cultural statements. The collection spans key historical and UAE national figures, works inspired by Emirati heritage and Arabic and Islamic art and architecture, celebrated sports personalities, and beloved cartoon characters such as Freej and Mario. Each artwork is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, offering visitors an engaging and immersive experience.
Founder of CubixArt, Khalfan Almarashda is recognised for his distinctive approach to mosaic portraiture, seamlessly blending heritage with modern expression. His work has been showcased in major exhibitions and installations across the UAE, earning him the title of Best Emerging Artist at World Art Dubai. Through CubixArt, he invites audiences to rediscover familiar faces and cultural icons through a contemporary lens defined by structure, symmetry, and storytelling.
