Rushot, A New App In Dubai Promises To Be ‘Uber’ Of Content Creation
A new mobile app launching in Dubai is redefining how people and brands create content for social media. Rushot, now available on the App Store and Google Play, connects users with professional videographers and photographers in their vicinity and delivers polished, custom videos within two hours.
Every single piece of content produced through Rushot—from reels and stories to photos—is shot exclusively on mobile phones ensuring quick turnaround times and an authentic aesthetic tailored for social media platforms.
Using location-based geotags, customers can instantly find and book a content creator nearest to them for events, brand activations, weddings, or personal milestones. Once the shoot wraps up, the final video is delivered in as little as two hours, with three flexible packages to suit different needs:
- Rush (AED 399): 1 reel, 2 story videos, 2 photos – delivered in 2 hours
- Rush Plus (AED 799): 2 reels, 4 story videos, 5 photos – delivered in 4 hours
- Rush Pro: Fully custom package for larger projects
Born from a Frustrating Wedding Moment
The idea for Rushot was sparked by a personal experience of co-founder Arfaz Iqbal, a well-known RJ with Malayalam FM station Hit 96.7 (part of Arabian Radio Network) and a 22-year media industry veteran.
“I was at a wedding wearing a jacket loaned by a fashion label, but when I wanted to post a photo, I didn’t have a single one,” Iqbal recalled. “The wedding photographers were too busy to send me one. Meanwhile, influencers who came with their own videographers had content published within hours. I realized there are many people who want professional coverage for special moments but simply don’t have access to it.”
Iqbal began developing the app but found progress slow—until he connected with serial entrepreneur Arun Mohan, who splits his time between Dubai and San Francisco and has made two successful exits, including a startup acquired by Zain Telecom.
“The first time Arfaz told me about the idea, I pulled up a document on my laptop where I had jotted down a similar concept,” said Mohan. “But I didn’t have enough experience in the media industry to pull it off on my own. Together, we could make it real.”
Mohan added that the app has plans to integrate more technology in the future and potentially have most of its video edits done by AI to cut short the delivery time even further.
Founding Trio
The founding team was completed by Emirati businessman Shanavas P, a partner in premium chocolate brand Locali and a seasoned entrepreneur who immediately recognized the potential.
“As soon as I heard the concept, I was sold,” said Shanavas. “It’s unique and perfect for a time when content is king. The fact that everything is shot on mobile phones makes it even more powerful—it keeps the content fast, affordable, and perfectly aligned with how social media actually works. It also gives professional photographers and videographers a platform to reach larger audiences. The UAE has long been the testbed for many unique ideas that have gone on to achieve huge success. There is no better place in the world to test a concept and springboard it to other markets.”
Iqbal added that the aim of the company is to make Rushot a daily habit in people’s lives. “It is not just an app for special occasions or parties,” he said. “We want it to be the first thing people think of when they dress up or are going out for a dinner. We want to make content creation easier and more accessible to people. We want people to think of getting a reel made as ‘Rushot-it’—just like the iconic ‘Dubai-It’ campaign.”
Supporting Creator Economy
Rushot is not just a platform for clients seeking photography and videography services—it also serves as a powerful discovery tool for content creators looking to build their careers. It aims to support Dubai’s ambitious target to double the creative industries’ contribution to the city’s GDP to 5 per cent by 2026 and generate 140,000 jobs.
A dedicated Rushot Creators app, available on Google Play and through the company’s website, allows photographers and videographers to register their profiles with ease. Creators can showcase their skills by uploading details such as the languages they speak, their experience level, the devices they use and their location. This makes it simple for customers to find the right match for their specific needs.
For independent creators and amateur videographers, the platform offers a valuable opportunity to get discovered and earn a steady stream of income. Rather than relying solely on word-of-mouth or social media to find work, creators can list their services on Rushot and connect with clients who are actively looking for talent.
The platform also allows creators to build a portfolio, receive ratings and reviews, and establish a reputation within the industry—helping them grow their business over time.
Expansion beyond borders
The app’s ambitions extend far beyond the UAE. The team has confirmed plans to launch in San Francisco, one of the world’s most dynamic tech and creative hubs, as part of its global expansion strategy.
In addition, Rushot is preparing to open a franchise operation in India later this year. By expanding into international markets, Rushot aims to connect creators and clients across different countries, building a global community of talent while maintaining the ease and convenience that users have come to expect.
