A New Dawn Rises: Mei Opens This September At Jumeirah Mina A’salam
This September, a new chapter in luxury dining for SHI Hospitality Group begins, as MEI opens its doors. Located at Jumeirah Mina A’Salam, MEI is more than a restaurant; it is a story told through flavour, design, and atmosphere, unfolding from the first step inside until the last note of music at night.
From the outset, MEI feels different. Guests pass through grand pivot doors into a living gallery of culture and craftsmanship, abstract murals ripple across the walls, intricate woodwork frames the interiors, and a soft golden glow sets the mood. Beyond the interiors, the expansive terrace overlooking Burj Al Arab seats 120 guests, offering one of Dubai’s most picturesque dining backdrops. Inside, the restaurant welcomes 137 diners, while 14 seats at the bar provide a front-row view of the evening’s rhythm.
The menu balances heritage and innovation across Chinese and Japanese influences. At its heart, the robata grill delivers premium meats and seafood alongside wok-fired favourites, while MEI’s Japanese section celebrates a direct partnership with Toyosu Fish Market, bringing the freshest sashimi, maki, and seasonal specials to Dubai. Dim sum, claypot dishes, and signature duck preparations complete a culinary journey designed for both comfort and discovery.
MEI evolves as the night unfolds. Live singers and DJs bring the room alive, and as the clock strikes 10, the lounge doors close and the venue transforms into something more intimate, more magnetic. Lights soften, music deepens, and the energy becomes that of an after-hours escape. The kitchen serves until midnight, while the bar carries on until 2 AM with a rotating roster of DJs keeping every night fresh and unpredictable.
“MEI was created as a space that grows with the evening. We wanted to capture the poetry of dining, the way flavours, sounds, and moments unfold when shared with others. MEI is about connection: between tradition and modernity, between the calm of dinner and the energy of night, between a space and the people who bring it to life.” says Diana Rysbaeva, Founder & CEO of SHI Hospitality Group.
Inspired by the crane, a symbol of longevity and elegance in Asian culture, MEI represents grace, strength, and renewal. Opening this September, it invites Dubai to experience a new rhythm of dining, where each meal is a ritual, every space carries a story, and every evening transforms into celebration.
