This Halloween, Sonara Camp casts its magic over the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve with “Witches of the Dunes”, a two-night-only spectacle on Friday 31st October and Saturday 1st November. With a Wicked-inspired theme, the desert’s most enchanting destination promises an evening where gastronomy, live performances and family adventures unfold beneath the stars.
Guests are welcomed by whimsical witches bearing sweets and surprises before a gentle drive through the dunes. As the sun sets, camels join the festivities for a playful “trick or treat”, setting the tone for an evening of immersive desert moments only Sonara can deliver.
While adults savour sunset canapés and signature cocktails and mocktails, little ones are drawn into their own world of wonder with face painting, , treasure hunts and a dedicated kids’ area brimming with spooky surprises. Live food stations serve up mini pizzas, burgers, cotton candy, waffles and ice cream crowned with Halloween toppings – the perfect fuel for a night of adventure.
At the heart of the evening is Sonara’s celebrated dining journey, this time reimagined for the season by Chef Gregory Khellouf. The menu opens with a pumpkin cauldron soup and black hummus, continues with Angus beef tagliata, and closes on coffin brownies and ghostly meringues. Themed cocktails such as “Pick Your Poison” bring a playful edge, while Sonara’s signature eco-luxury hospitality ensures every detail is delivered with flair and style.
As darkness settles, the desert becomes an open-air stage for fire and fantasy. Guests are captivated by a Halloween magic show, a spirited Dia de los Muertos performance, and the swirling energy of Tanoura dancers. The air crackles with energy during Rituals of Witches and a high-octane take on Thriller, before Sonara’s iconic fire show lights up the dunes in a dazzling blaze of colour. Pathways glow with liquid nitrogen effects, witches’ hats adorn each table, and Polaroid keepsakes capture the evening against a dramatic photo wall backdrop.
