A Burst Of Creativity Hits Al Quoz As Dubai Culture And Woo-hoo! Reveal ‘Wonder Windows”
woo-hoo!, the UAE’s award-winning children’s museum dedicated to play-based learning, marked its fifth anniversary with a lively community celebration in partnership with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and the Al Quoz Creative Zone. The special event transformed woo-hoo!’s outdoor mural space into an open canvas for families, inviting children to add their own artistic touches to the newly unveiled Wonder Windows mural.
The celebration built on woo-hoo!’s mission to create meaningful, joy-filled experiences for children and families, this time by placing creativity directly into their hands. Visitors enjoyed a colourful morning of interactive art-making, guided by mural artists Hend Al Murid and Dina Saadi, whose works formed the foundation of the collaborative piece.
Reflecting on the success of the event, woo-hoo! Co-Founder Ms. Sidrah Zahid said:“Seeing our outdoor space come alive with colour and community was incredibly special. This mural represents everything we believe in creativity, confidence, and connection. Watching children contribute to a public artwork, standing side-by-side with professional artists, reminded us how powerful it is when children are given the freedom to express themselves. This celebration reaffirmed our purpose at woo-hoo!: to create spaces where imagination genuinely matters.”
Artists Celebrate Connection, Creativity, and Community
Emirati mural artist Hend Al Murid, whose playful visual language shaped one half of the Wonder Windows installation, shared her joy in seeing the community engage with her work: “It was my first time creating a mural on such a large outdoor wall, and seeing children interact with it was amazing. Their creativity brought new life to the piece. I hope it encourages them to draw freely and explore their imagination without rules.”
Syrian/Russian mural artist Dina Saadi, known for her vibrant global murals, spoke about the emotional impact of seeing families connect with her art:“Watching children point out colours, recognise symbols, and add their own marks was incredibly rewarding. This area has such a unique spirit, and I wanted the mural to reflect its diversity and energy. My hope is that it creates moments of joy, connection, and inspiration for everyone who passes by.”
A Celebration of Public Art and Play
The community activation forms part of Dubai Culture’s Public Art Strategy, which aims to bring creativity into everyday environments and strengthen Dubai’s cultural identity. At woo-hoo!, families enjoyed a warm, interactive atmosphere filled with music, creativity stations, and opportunities for playful learning.
The Wonder Windows initiative also builds on woo-hoo!’s broader commitment to nurturing imagination through hands-on experiences from workshops and galleries to community events that encourage children to lead with curiosity.
