Lulu Leloup Returns With Darkly Humorous “March” – Right On Time For Hallowe’en

The Dubai-based, Montreal-raised jazz singer-songwriter turns heartbreak into dark humour with her latest single and video, “(If You’re Gonna Break My Heart, Would You Do It After) March.”

With her third single, “(If You’re Gonna Break My Heart, Would You Do It After) March,” Dubai-based jazz singer-songwriter Lulu Leloup continues to prove that heartbreak has never sounded so seductive. Inspired by a birthday spent in tears, the song turns personal pain into a jazz confessional where wit and vulnerability dance hand in hand. Beneath its smoky charm lies a wink at despair, making it the perfect soundtrack for those who prefer their heartbreaks with a touch of dark humour — and just in time for Hallowe’en.

Written by Lulu herself, the track blends lyrical cheek with the smooth sophistication. Her heartfelt vocals glide over a classic jazz arrangement. While it’s tongue-in-cheek, the song came from “a place of deep vulnerability,” she explains, “a place of literally losing all pride & begging for mercy in love.”

The release is accompanied by a vintage, noir-inspired music video directed by Lebanese filmmaker Kristian Abouanni.  Mysterious, sultry, and unexpectedly funny, it blends glamour and dark humour and offers a cheeky twist that plays perfectly into the song’s blend of heartbreak and charm.

Since her debut with “Hope I Won’t Love You Anyways” in August, followed by “You Called Me Baby, but Baby You Didn’t Call,” Lulu has been hailed for her clever lyricism and vocal warmth. Critics have praised her work as “sharp, witty, and profoundly relatable”, with warm jazz textures and conversational storytelling that make her music both nostalgic yet entirely her own.

Originally from Beirut and raised in Montreal, Lulu is now based in Dubai, where she’s carving out a space in the city’s growing independent jazz scene.

“(If You’re Gonna Break My Heart, Would You Do It After) March” will be available on all streaming platforms from October 31st, 2025.
